Dear Purrfect patients and clients,
In light of the province entering stage 2 reopening, there are many questions among ourselves, and the veterinary community, about when and how to reopen veterinary clinics to the public. Although we are doing our best with curbside, this is not how we want to be practicing medicine and caring for your cats. We miss having you in the clinic working with us side-by-side and want nothing more than to able to have you back in our clinic and practice medicine as before.
So what is our current plan on getting back to “new normal”?
A very big THANK YOU to everyone for your patience and understanding as we try to navigate the tricky world that has arisen from COVID. We have done, and will continue to do, everything possible to keep our patients, our clients, and ourselves safe to ensure that we will stay open and be there for you and your cat’s health care needs. Our fear is that if our clinic comes down with COVID, and we will need to close, we will not be there for your cats in their times in need. In part it is this fear that is making us extra cautious.
Socially distanced hugs to all!
Sincerely,
Dr. Liz Ruelle

So what is our current plan on getting back to “new normal”?
- Reception area: We are in the process of modifying our reception counter with appropriate plastic shields and, ideally, will be opening the front of the clinic for food and medicine pick-ups within the next one to two weeks. Our reception space is small and we are going to be mindful of numbers in the clinic.
- In clinic appointments: For those familiar with our layout and exam room size, our challenge right now is trying to figure out how to arrange work-flow to allow clients in the clinic but still be able to meet the government directed social distancing requirements in exam rooms/spaces that were never really designed for social distancing. We are working our regulatory body (The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association) and following their guidelines. Our tentative plan is to restart in person visits mid July, with a mask policy in place, but this may change as information changes. We have, and will continue, to allow those clients saying goodbye to the beloved kitties access to the clinic.
- For those familiar with our clinic layout, suggestions are welcome.
